Alleyne Dance is a UK-based company with an international reach, founded in 2014 by award-winning dancers and twin sisters Kristina and Sadé Alleyne.
Alleyne Dance, founded by twin sisters Kristina and Sadé Alleyne in 2014, is a UK-based, internationally touring dance company. Their athleticism and diverse dance backgrounds inform their fast-paced, abstract contemporary choreography, blending West African, Caribbean, Hip Hop, and Kathak. Renowned for powerful yet graceful performances, Alleyne Dance prioritises high quality and excellence.
As winners of the Bench 2019 Women of Colour Commission, Alleyne Dance created the distinctive outdoor performance work POWER to tour nationally and internationally as part of 2Faced Dance Company's 20th-anniversary celebrations. Throughout 2022, the company worked on a new high-profile commission for the renowned Martha Graham Company, who are reviving the celebrated 1950s work Canticle for Innocent Comedians, a new dance film commission for Phoenix Dance Theatre, released in the Autumn, and a mass dance spectacular as part of Lewisham’s year as the Mayor of London’s London Borough of Culture. Their repertoire includes stage productions (A Night's Game, The Other Side of Me), award-winning dance film ((Re)United), outdoor productions (BONDED, POWER), and their new touring production Far From Home (2022-2025). Currently, they're choreographing a full-length work for Ballet theatre company Tiroler Landestheater & Orchestra GmbH in Innsbruck, Austria.
Kristina then went on to study at NSCD’s postgraduate performance company Verve in 2009. Kristina joined Akram Khan Company in 2012 for productions such as iTOMi and Kaash, most notably performing at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony. Kristina also leads workshops internationally as part of A.K.C.T (Akram Khan Charitable Trust) and independent film projects directed by Akram Khan. Kristina has performed with Ultima Vez touring the production Trap Town in 2018-2019. Kristina is an accomplished movement mentor and has guided many up-and-coming artists. She also worked as Movement Associate for Marvel Studios in 2020, and Movement Director for Purple Theatre.
Kristina has worked with international companies and choreographers such as, Tavaziva Dance, Arthur Pita, Ijad Dance and Technology Company, Retina Dance Company, Henri Oguike Dance Company, Thomas Michael Voss and Chisato Minamimura.
Sadé Alleyne started her career as an athlete, training and competing professionally in London, UK. Shifting to dance, she trained at the BRIT School of Performing Arts and Technology and Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Sadé is currently based in London and is studying Roehampton’s Foundation Course in Dance Movement Psychotherapy.
Sadé has worked with Tavaziva Dance, IJAD Dance and Vocab Dance Company, Ace Dance, State of Emergency, and Aakash Odedera Company’s production Samsara. She has also worked with choreographers Vincent Mantsoe, Luyanda Sidiya, Andlie Sotyia and Douglas Thorpe. Sadé joined Akram Khan Company in 2012 on The Vertical Road, iTOMi, Kaash tour, most notably performing at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony. Sadé has worked with award-winning director Antoine Marc of Arts and Movement Ltd for film Descent, Remains, Within and the recent XR Film Production, commissioned by BBC Arts and One Dance UK.
