Tom Davis Dunn, who graduated from NSCD with a BPA in 2017, has joined the cast of Lloyd Newson's Enter Achilles, 25 years after the original landmark production. Presented by Rambert in association with Sadler's Wells , this reworking drags British pub culture kicking and yelling onto the stage, examining "the terrors and tenderness of beer-soaked testosterone."
Tom Dunn was handpicked to join the new cast by Lloyd Newson (Artistic Director of DV8 Dance Theatre) out of hundreds of worldwide auditionees.
“After 6 months of intensive auditioning, it’s been gratifying to have finally found a cast of ‘blokes’ with the technical and acting abilities required to update and re-stage Enter Achilles.” - Lloyd Newson
Tom was previously a company dancer for Gary Clarke's Wasteland, and has worked with Jamaal Burkmar, performed at the TEDxBrum conference, and toured New York and Washington with Rosie Kay Dance Company.
First staged in 1995, Enter Achilles toured 18 countries and was made into an International Emmy-winning BBC film. The Daily Telegraph called the original production "a rare, rich, devastating, triumphant work of art" and the Sunday Times described it as a "powerful and spectacular work... about violence and vulnerability of manliness - funny, moving, disturbing".
Tickets for Enter Achilles are currently on sale at many venues internationally. It arrives at Sadler's Wells in London between Tue 26 May and Sat 6 June, and at the Lowry in Salford Thurs 11- Fri 12 June.
