STATEMENT: UK VOTES TO LEAVE THE EU

Tuesday 28th June 2016, 9:05am Statement: UK votes to leave the EU

However, this will be a gradual process. Nothing will happen in the short term and during the transition period we will work, as part of the Conservatoire of Dance and Drama, with Conservatoires UK and Universities UK to mitigate any possible impacts of the referendum outcome and ensure the UK remains an attractive destination for talented people from across Europe and that dance students and professionals from EU countries can continue to study and work in the UK in the long term future.

Nothing will happen in the short-term and the UK will remain a full EU member over the transition period. It is highly unlikely therefore, that there will be any material change to the status of EU staff over at least the next two years and there will be no change to the status of current EU students and those joining us this autumn. There will also be no change to our Erasmus + programme.

We can therefore confirm our commitment to all current students from the EU and those who will be joining us in the autumn, for the duration of their study programmes.

As a small specialist arts educational institution, NSCD thrives on being outward facing, welcoming students and staff from across the UK, Europe and internationally and we hugely value the enrichment this intercultural exchange and diversity provides, helping ensure we are a dynamic creative community and can best contribute to leading the future development of dance artists and of the art form.

Over the coming period we will ensure our highly valued EU staff, students and prospective students are fully supported and will work constantly to ensure NSCD can sustain and grow our vibrant, diverse community and the cultural and economic wealth it contributes to our outward facing city of Leeds.

Northern School of Contemporary Dance will continue in its determination to seek and welcome talent from across Europe and the world.
