CDD RECEIVES GOLD IN TEACHING EXCELLENCE FRAMEWORK

Wednesday 21st June 2017, 10:54am CDD receives Gold in Teaching Excellence Framework

The outcomes of the Year Two Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) were today announced by HEFCE, and NSCD is delighted to share news that the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama has received a Gold award. The Conservatoire, which comprises Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Central School of Ballet, LAMDA, London Contemporary Dance School, National Centre for Circus Arts, Rambert School, and RADA, is one of 59 institutions to be awarded Gold out of the 295 providers who entered the TEF.

The TEF was introduced by the Government to build evidence about the performance of the UK’s world-class higher education sector, complementing the existing Research Excellence Framework with an analysis of teaching and learning outcomes.

The TEF awards were decided by an independent panel of experts including academics, students and employer representatives. Drawing on national data, and evidence submitted by each university or college, the TEF measures excellence in three areas: teaching quality, the learning environment and the educational and professional outcomes achieved by students.

Gold is awarded to institutions that consistently deliver outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students. It is of the highest quality found in the UK.

The award follows the outcome of the HEFCE review of specialist institutions in 2016, which confirmed the Conservatoire as a provider of world-leading teaching.
