TAINE MCKINSTRAY

she/they

Taine was born in 2001 and began dancing at a young age. She found her love for contemporary dance after joining Scottish Dance Theatre’s Youth Company, spending many years as a member there before continuing training at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance. During her time on the BA at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Taine worked with choreographers Antonio Bukhar, Fernanda Prata, Joseph Mercier, Imogen Reeves and Rhiannon Faith. A highlight of the BA course was finding her artistic voice through choreographic research projects, discovering a huge love of physical theatre work.

"I chose this MA course due to its interdisciplinary nature and the opportunity to explore dance in many different contexts and spaces. My interests particularly revolve around physical theatre, so I’m looking forward to getting to work with Gecko Theatre, experiencing their working style and learning new skills I can put into my own practice as a performer and choreographer."
