Hear from Artistic Director, Matteo Marfoglia

In 2024/25 we welcome three international choreographers with a variety of different backgrounds in dance.

Firstly, international choreographer Bosmat Nossan will create a new work for the entire company. Bosmat danced for many years with Batsheva Dance Company and Inbal Pinto, and she has been presenting her own work across the world. Bosmat’s work is inspired by science fiction, comics, and surrealist art.

Secondly, we invite Luca Signoretti to create a new work for the whole company which will combine his interest in extreme physicality and telling stories on stage. Luca previously danced with Tanz Luzerner Theater and has recently choreographed for the company as well as Regensburg Theater and National Theater Mannheim.

Finally, I am delighted to continue the ongoing collaboration between VERVE and Sattva Ninja. Sattva has already been on a creative journey with VERVE by being part of the Research Commission artist programme in 2022 and 2023. I am excited for Sattva to bring their knowledge of commercial settings, such as the tv show Legendary as well as being a leading artist in Ballroom culture, to a group of contemporary dancers on UK stages.

We recognise each dancer has their unique skills and experiences to offer and support them in exploring their unique potential rigorously. Alongside working with choreographers, VERVE works with exceptional practitioners across many movement practices in the development of their artistry.

I am delighted by the success of our VERVE alumni, witnessing their growth and forging themselves as dance artists of the future. I am also excited to have curated a programme of three young artists with a wide breadth of knowledge in their artistry but still bring a curiosity in developing their choreographic practice, and I am grateful for the new VERVE dancers to be able to experience that together.”
