NSCD is delighted to announce a number of new appointments to support its infrastructure and growth, as it applies to become an independently-registered organisation with the Office for Students from September 2022.
The new appointments reflect our ability to offer excellent opportunities for our students; developing their artistic practice and connections with the industry. These appointments continue to feed into an excellent background infrastructure that creates a vibrant and supportive workplace.
We are pleased to welcome new staff to our teaching team who join us from inspirational international professional careers in performance, choreography, rehearsal and artistic direction. Already this year Azzurra Ardovini, Hannah Bateman, Rachel Fullegar and Gianluca Vincentini have joined us, and they’ll shortly be joined by Keira Martin and Ben Wright. All come with a wealth of professional and artistic experience from the UK and around the world, embracing NSCD's vision of excellence and diversity. Gianluca, currently Artistic Director of Leeds-based Mobius Dance, joins as Curriculum lead for the new Watson Dance Project pathway for our MA Contemporary Dance students, while Azzurra, Hannah, Rachel, Keira and Ben have joined as Lecturers in Dance, adding to the depth of our technical and creative teaching across our courses.
Lorna Chadwick has joined our Learning and Participation team to support the additional reach of the school and its community-based activities, a valuable strand of the school’s ambition to provide excellent dance activities for and with young people.
Zara Lee, an alumni of NSCD, has joined the school as Student Union Manager and Philippa Ranger joins as Access and Participation Manager , working to drive change and helping us all to realise a collective ambition for diversity, access and inclusion.
We really value the student-facing roles which sit outside of the classroom, adding very much to the student experience. So, welcome Hannah Strachan as our Library and Digital assistant, Elliot Smith as IT Technician, Elizabeth Richardson as Finance Assistant and Ibtisam Ibraham who joins the in-house catering team. Haroon Mohammed and Levi Gateway also join as Caretakers.
We are also delighted to announce that James Squire is now our Accompanist Manager at the School. Our accompanists play a vital role in our dance education at NSCD and this role seeks to build upon the excellent work already undertaken in this area. We look forward to seeing this area continue to evolve with our talented team of accompanists.
As we continue to develop our theatre and events work as a National Portfolio Organisation, we look forward to welcoming Taleasha Johnson-Brown as Front of House, Events and Programming Manager to take over and build on the excellent work of Kirk Worley, who retired at the end of May 2022.
Joining the Marketing Team are Ailsa Robinson and NSCD alumna Eleanor Grice.
