TOM RODEN

Tom Roden is a writer, director and choreographer working in theatre, dance and comedy.

He is one half of New Art Club, pioneering writers and choreographers presenting ground-breaking performances internationally since 2001. Their work has been translated into French and Mandarin and has been performed in venues including The Royal Opera House, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Wembley Stadium. They were Place Prize finalists in 2004 and won the Edinburgh Spotlight Best Comedy Award in 2010.

He is Co -Director of Anatomical. Rooted in the shared inter-generational experience of making and creating together, Anatomical places families at the heart of their work. Encouraging audiences to unleash their imaginations and embark on collective adventures. Their growing body of work has been enjoyed by thousands of families across the UK.  As an independent director and choreographer he has made work for Candoco, Scottish Dance Theatre, Viv Gordon Company, Ricochet, Stuart Waters Company, Glyndebourne, Welsh National Opera, Talking Birds, Reckless Sleepers, Probe and Edge.

ALETHIA ANTONIA

Alethia Antonia (They/Her) is a British Caribbean, West Yorkshire-based independent choreographer, performer, teacher and researcher. Alethia’s practice incorporates various movement practices/music/singing, and academic frames to explore artistic & socio-political questions related to identity. Their practice also explores accessibility, decolonisation and the use of dance as a place to reimagine and heal.

Alethia’s choreographic work has been presented at The PlaceDanceEastLilian BaylisUTA Artist Space LA and Centre Pompidou in Paris. Their outdoor performances have included National Theatre Riverstage and London Gallery Weekend as well as appearing in Phoenix Dance Theatre and Sadler’s Wells Digital Programmes.

Their research is supported by institutions such as Akram Khan CompanyFABRICNSCD, and Yorkshire Dance. They are a Work Place Artist at The Place and a part-time PhD student at DMU with a Midlands4Cities scholarship.

BRUCE WONG

Born in Hong Kong, Bruce Wong was admitted to The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1995. He joined City Contemporary Dance Company in 2000. In 2009, Wong was awarded the Music and Dance Fund from the Hong Kong Jockey Club and took his Master Degree at Hollins University in the U.S.A. He returned to the CCDC in 2012 as a dancer and was promoted to the Rehearsal Master in 2019. During this time, he also choreographed numerous of work, in 2017, his full length work, Why not kill us all? was awarded as the outstanding medium venue production in 20th Hong Kong Dance Awards. In 2019, Stay/Away, a co-choreograph work by Frankie Ho and Bruce Wong presented by HOOK Dance Theatre was awarded as Outstanding Small Venue Production in the 22nd Hong Kong Dance Awards. Bruce is also passionate in martial arts, in 2006, he was the section champion at the 2nd Hong Kong Open Wushu Championship.
