On 24 November 2017, The Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle announced the nominations for the 18th National Dance Awards. We are delighted to find two NSCD graduates on the shortlist.
Shelley Eva Haden, who graduated from NSCD in 2014, has been nominated in the category of ‘Outstanding Female Performance (Modern)’ for her performance in MK Ultra with Rosie Kay Dance Company. Joining Shelley in this category are Antonia Grove in ‘Virgin Territory’ (Vincent Dance Theatre), Ashley Shaw as Vicky Page in ‘The Red Shoes’ (New Adventures), Clemmie Sveaas in ‘Stepmother/Stepfather’ (Arthur Pita & HeadSpaceDance) and Francesca Velicu in ‘The Rite of Spring’ (English National Ballet).
For the second successive year, a production by renowned NSCD alumnus Akram Khan has garnered the most nominations, with four for his production Giselle for English National Ballet, including the category of ‘Best Classical Choreography’.
The winners will be announced at a lunchtime ceremony to be held in Central London on Monday 19 February 2018.
We wish all the nominees the best of luck!
