The decision to award NSCD this honour was influenced by several key factors, chief among them being the School’s national significance in the field of dance training. As the only dance conservatoire outside of London, NSCD has consistently proven itself to be a beacon of creative excellence and a source of pride for Yorkshire. The School’s international reach and recognition, with a list of alumni who have gone on to become world-renowned performers, further attests to its outstanding reputation.

This esteemed award not only celebrates the hard work and dedication of the NSCD team but also highlights the importance of arts education in Yorkshire, proving once again that the region is a powerhouse for creative talent and innovation.

2025 marks a special milestone for NSCD as it celebrates its 40th anniversary, a remarkable achievement that highlights the school’s ongoing commitment to nurturing talent and pushing the boundaries of contemporary dance.

Philip Bell, CEO of the Yorkshire Society, commented on the achievement, saying,
