VERVE, NSCD's internationally touring postgraduate dance company, will present a triple bill of new contemporary works this season, showcasing the genre’s diversity and offering audiences thought-provoking experiences.
The programme includes collaborations with Swiss choreographer Luca Signoretti, international artist and Gaga teacher Bosmat Nossan, and a new piece by Sattva Ninja, a member of the House of Ninja from Netflix's Legendary.
The company aims to inspire, provoke, and captivate audiences on its upcoming international tour, beginning with a world premiere at the Riley Theatre in Leeds on 28th February 2025.
Luca Signoretti’s creation for the company, Let Me In explores the deeply personal journey of artistic creation and reflects his pursuit of honesty in his work, resisting the urge to let external views alter the creative process. The piece serves as a reminder to stay authentic, embrace vulnerability and trust your own voice even when the world is watching.
Sattva Ninja is an interdisciplinary artist, renowned for representing the Ballroom Culture for the past decade. Their artistry is known worldwide for their mystical, geometrical, and in-depth approach to movements and storytelling in connection with sound. This work called Lotus explores the connection of growth, transformation and evolution that humans have in relationship to nature, igniting a journey of searching for self-empowerment.
Bosmat Nossan’s work originates from an attraction to the unnatural, the exaggerated and the stylised. She is inspired by science fiction, comics, and surrealist art.
VERVE is the international touring dance company of Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Each year the company commissions choreographers from all over the world to create an artistically distinct, physically daring, and engaging programme of dance work.
