NSCD is thrilled to extend a warm welcome to the 2024 cohort of students joining us on the ELEVATE programme.
ELEVATE is a unique initiative designed to support 15 young people from diverse backgrounds in Yorkshire. This new programme will see the group take part in dance activity and workshops free of charge over the course of 10 months with the aim of building their skills, network and confidence in readiness for auditioning for NSCD’s Undergraduate courses in April 2025.
The group attended their first workshop earlier this month where they took part in three workshops with NSCD staff Keira Martin, Antonio Bukhar and Matthew Slater where they explored both Afro fusion and contemporary dance.
As part of the programme, the group will participate in further workshops to learn from industry professionals and NSCD tutors in areas such as application writing and audition preparation. In addition, they will get a taste of what it is like to be an NSCD student, with detailed insights into our curriculum, student life, and career pathways. They will have the opportunity to join a network of fellow dancers, mentors, and alumni who will support and inspire them.
There are also bursaries to attend NSCD Summer School (usually £200), application fee bursary, free tickets to watch current students perform, travel bursaries to attend activity (within West Yorkshire), follow-up support after auditions and the opportunity to gain an Arts Award Bronze.
