ELEVATE - Northern School of Contemporary Dance
 

Launching in 2024, ELEVATE is a new, extended programme of activity specifically for young dancers in Yorkshire.

In its pilot phase, a total of 15 young people will take part in 15 days’ dance activity free of charge over the course of 10 months, building their skills and confidence in readiness for auditioning for NSCD’s Undergraduate courses in April 2025.

What does the programme include?

  • Practical skills workshops with NSCD course tutors
  • Bursary to attend NSCD Summer School (usually £200)
  • Help with application writing
  • Application fee bursary (worth £20)
  • Audition preparation
  • Opportunities to meet current NSCD students & alumni
  • Free tickets to watch current students perform
  • Travel bursaries to attend activity (within West Yorkshire)
  • Follow-up support after auditions.
  • Opportunity to gain an Arts Award Bronze.

WHO is it for?

We’re looking for committed, enthusiastic and passionate young people who are considering a future career in dance. Students should currently be in Year 10 (starting Year 11 in September 2024) OR be in Year 12 (starting Year 13 in September 2024.)

Participants must also belong to at least 1 of the following groups:

  • ​​IMD Quintile 1*
  • TUNDRA Quintile 1*
  • POLAR4 Quintile 1*
  • From the Global Majority (more on what this means here)

Students should not already be taking part in NSCD’s Centre for Advanced Training scheme.
