UK PREMIERE
In a new take on Maurice Ravel’s famous orchestral composition, Gran Bolero sees dance and music combine to breathtaking effect. Treading a fine line between exhilaration and exhaustion, 13 dancers explore the effort and pleasure to be had in resistance, perseverance, and liberation.
Choreographed by Spanish choreographer Jesús Rubio Gamo and performed at Leeds Corn Exchange in the round by Watson Dance Project, a company of Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
“Boléro is like an impulse, always forward. I went with it. Music and dance often save you from loneliness.”
