“I dance because I love feeling the euphoria, the catharsis. I can set something free, and become something other. The sensation of music, bodies and breath harmonising, at play together, is the most beautiful experience. I can feel at once authentic and ethereal.”
Esme began dancing in her hometown, Reading. She joined the Swindon Dance CAT contemporary programme in 2015, where she trained from the age of 13 to 18, and was able to work with choreographers such as Estela Merlos, Anna Watkins, James Cousins and Richard Alston Dance Company, and perform devised work at Womad Music Festival.
She gained a place at London Contemporary Dance School in 2020, and graduated in 2023 with a First Class Honours degree. During her time at LCDS she was able to perform repetoire and devised works by artists including Jason Mabana, Monique Jonas, Fubunation and Shobana Jeyasingh, and work on developing her own choreography as part of her dissertation project and student platforms.
