Matias began his training at Rogelio Rivel circus school in Barcelona, specialising in Aerial Rope.
In 2015 he graduated from Barcelona’s international mime school Moveo with a degree in Physical Theatre and Corporeal Mime.
He continued to investigate expressive movement with a two-year professional training course at Area Dansa, and a three-month intensive at the NOD International Contemporary Dance Program in Turin, where he trained with artists such as Jermaine Spivey, Sam Coren, and Iñaki Azpillag.
Matias has collaborated with Miquel Barcelo and dance companies D-Impro and Neodanza, as well as co-creating the dance duo IOR with Marc Fernández.
The focus of Matthias’ studies lies in the development of his artistic language.
Currently he is in the process of researching the interconnection between contemporary dance, aerial rope (circus discipline) and physical theatre. He is also teaching enrichment classes for dancers aimed at finding theatrical approaches to movement.
After completing the MA in Dance & Creative Enterprise, Matthias will start an independent project with circus artist Mila Martinez. Together they will develop a piece that includes circus, dance and physical theatre. As well as the role of performer, he will also work on the production of this project.
