Paul has been an educationalist for over 40 years and now supports Local Authorities (LA) and schools across the country. Paul led education across North Yorkshire and Leeds, Ofsted judged both these LAs as ‘Outstanding’. His other experiences include; Director of Children’s Services, school Inspector, senior examiner, adult education tutor, teacher and senior leader in inner-city secondary schools. He has been a research fellow at a university and visiting examiner he has also led reviews of a number of Local Authorities and an HE institute. He was recently honoured by Leeds Trinity University by being awarded an Honorary fellowship for contributions to that institution and education across the region.
He is currently Chair of the Leeds Learning Alliance, a governor at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Company Member of the White Rose Academy Trust and Trustee of a Fair-trade Cooperative. He has held a number of other non-exec roles including being a Director of 3 Multi Academy Trusts, a Governor at a number of schools and Colleges, Chair of a Music Hub and Chair of the Yorkshire Association of Directors of Childrens Services Education (ADCS) Group and the National ADCS Associates Network. Previously he has chaired a citywide Duke of Edinburgh's Award panel and been a council member of the National Society for Education in Art and Design. He is passionate about all aspects of education and community but especially; inclusion, the arts, diversity, equity, leadership, climate change and creativity and has a reputation for effective leadership in challenging circumstances.
He originally trained to be a designer and has a master’s degree in education management. Paul has worked across the public, private and third sectors. He has worked in schools, Local Authorities and charities.
Paul is married and lives in Holmfirth. In his spare-time he continues his practice as a visual artist and designer focusing on painting and photography, he enjoys the theatre and dance in particular as an audience member and he is an active tennis player, skier, runner and cyclist.
