Who Am I?

“I am state school educated, did a university degree on a full grant, had limited formal music training and my early career mainly supported by the dole. My main career achievement is to be still working as a musician 35 years later (plus a stint sorting the post during Covid). I have three grown-up daughters, three small grandchildren, two sets of ageing parents (and a range of extended step-families). I have lived in Wolverhampton – Sheffield – Bristol – Stroud – and am now based in Wakefield. I am sustained by jazz/tango/reggae/funk/70s classics and improvised music, plus politics, philosophy, poetry, football, cafes and gardening. After many years of being the youngest in the room, I’m now happy to be the oldest…”
