Abstract:
I am currently writing this abstract whilst also arranging cover for tomorrow’s teaching sessions, giving my daughter a bath, and cooking tea. This highlights for me that the management strategies and working approaches descended from 19th century sociological ideals and industrial factory work are no longer fit for purpose. This project aims to test a different organisational strategy for the management of teaching staff at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD), a dance conservatoire in the North of England. This strategy will focus on maintaining productivity, increasing motivation, whilst better reflecting the complex relationship between work and life within the multifaceted paradigms of current social structures.
