Abstract:
The concepts of art and research have metamorphosised dramatically throughout their history, and, as an indirect consequence of modern attempts to define and evaluate them, their meanings have become increasingly intangible. Therefore, delineating ‘what is art’ and ‘what is research’ is becoming more and more difficult. For artists working in academia, finding the right way to position work within research frameworks further complicates this relationship. The aim of this paper is to explore the intersection between art and research through three different lenses in order to better understand their relationship.
