This Easter intensive is recommended for dancers aged 14 – 21 years at an intermediate level/with a developed understanding of dance technique. You may be studying dance, part of a CAT scheme or a youth dance company, or attend evening dance classes/training on a regular basis.
You don’t need to be a student at NSCD to attend.
Each morning includes a technique or improvisation class followed by a repertoire class where you will learn material from works by international choreographers Matteo Marfoglia, Joy Alpuerto Ritter & (LA)HORDE.
Afternoons include creative and choreographic sessions in an inspiring studio environment, where you can test out ideas and work collaboratively with people with a shared passion for dance toward a performance at the end of the week.
Students will also have the opportunity to watch excerpts of work, learn more about the MA Performance Company VERVE and find out more about what the future could look like for them in the world of dance.
The course is led by experienced alumni from the postgraduate dance company of NSCD, VERVE, all of whom have worked with exceptional practitioners across many movement practices in the development of their artistry. Meet your tutors.

You’ll also have the chance to meet VERVE Curriculum Lead, Matteo Marfoglia, who believes:
“Dance is a creative dialogue, which I believe everyone should feel a part of.”
Throughout the week, you’ll push the boundaries of dance by exploring contemporary choreography from the 2024 VERVE tour:
People used to die by (LA)HORDE
Forget-Me-Not by Joy Alpuerto Ritter
A Field of Beauty by Matteo Marfoglia
You can find out more about the above choreographer’s work here.
On the final day of the course, after creating and rehearsing throughout the week, everyone on the course will have the opportunity to invite friends and family to see them perform on stage at Yorkshire’s largest dedicated dance house – Riley Theatre.
Unfortunately, NSCD is unable to provide accommodation for VERVE Easter Intensive participants, and those travelling from further afield will need to arrange their own accommodation for the week.
NSCD is located close to Leeds City Centre and a range of affordable accommodation, including Premier Inn and Travelodge.
