Each year, we host a diverse range of dance workshops and Continued Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for dance artists, teachers, and students, as well as open sessions tailored to specific age groups. These sessions provide invaluable experiences, combining practical learning with insights from leading industry professionals.
We offer a variety of CPD opportunities designed to support schools, community groups, and dance professionals working with children and young people. Recent sessions have included partnerships with Dance United Yorkshire, focusing on Behaviour Management strategies, and our Dance Gathering networking event, which brings together freelance artists, dance companies, organisations, learning departments, teachers, and youth leaders.
These events provide fresh perspectives, stimulating discussions, and inspiring opportunities to develop new projects, share ideas, and build connections. Whether you’re currently engaging with children and young people or looking to start, our CPD workshops are a platform for collaboration and innovation in dance education and practice.
With a strong focus on upskilling youth participants, these sessions are led by renowned companies and artists, offering young dancers the opportunity to refine their skills and explore new techniques. Previous masterclasses have been delivered by Company Chameleon, 2Faced Dance Company, ACE Dance & Music, Stopgap Dance Company, Hawk Dance Theatre, and individual artists.
Interactive experiences for families, blending workshops and performances to inspire creativity and connection. Delivered by companies such as Knotted Hawk, Anatomical Dance, Speedwell Dance, and Coalesce Dance, these sessions take place both at our Leeds base and in our Riley Theatre ‘Reach’ partnership venues across the region.
Linked to performances in the Riley Theatre or other venues in Leeds, these workshops bring world-class dance directly to participants. Collaborations have included Scottish Dance Theatre, James Cousins Dance, ACE Dance & Music, Uchenna Dance, Massala Dance Company, Company Chameleon, Hofesh Shechter, and Candoco Dance Company.
